Stylist Kate Young has one of the most varied and respected resumes in fashion. She is sought after by Hollywood celebrities for Oscar night, top publications for cover shoots, and mega brands for advertising campaigns. She consults for labels, styles runway shows, and has designed vegan shoes with Natalie Portman, luxury lingerie for a Triumph Japan and her own line of fine wool knitwear for women and kids.
Young began her career at Vogue magazine, assisting Anna Wintour and Tonne Goodman. She was quickly promoted in the fashion department, where she became the sittings editor for the “People Are Talking About…” section of the magazine, where she worked regularly with Herb Ritts, and Young styled the first-ever cover of Teen Vogue.
What makes Kate Young unique is her ability to move among worlds with the highest levels of creativity and integrity intact. On the commercial end of the spectrum she has consulted for Armani Exchange, Tod’s, Halston, Target, Ann Taylor and Nicole Miller and styled campaigns for Victoria’s Secret, Dior, Guerlain fragrances, Carolina Herrera, Theory, Cover Girl and Olay.
Her editorial work is consistently exciting, unique and memorable. She served as Fashion Editor at Large for Interview Magazine, and she has styled for i-D, American Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Lula, Numero Japan, Dossier and InStyle, collaborating with photographers Steven Meisel, Mert & Marcus, Inez & Vinoodh, Mario Sorrenti, Patrick Demarchalier, Tim Walker, Terry Richardson & Annie Leibovitz.
She works closely with designers on their shows and, by extension, their collections. Jason Wu, Derek Lam, Vena Cava and Yigal Azrouel have all benefited from Young’s collaborative spirit.
Young is also one of the most sought after red carpet stylists in LA. Her clients include Natalie Portman, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Sky Ferreira, Maggie Gyllenhaal & Emilia Clark.
Young lives in Brooklyn with her husband Keith and their two young sons.
